Tribute to my father...Poole

Today, my father on the earth was buried. He died suddenly last week, and my heart was broken. I loved my daddy. He always told the truth no matter how blunt it was. Also, he taught me what to look for in a husband: one who would be responsible for providing for his wife, faithful to his wife and reliable, by his example of the way he provided for and loved my mother without any shadow of turning. When I remember my daddy there are so many good memories!

Swimming after our chores were done, his mile wide grin when my daughter graduated from high school, his sitting in the bleachers as I received a degree from the University of Georgia, his remark that I overheard, "Gloria is the most responsible person I know", his paying for me and my daughter to fly home once for the holidays, his relentless love of me, are all wonderful memories for me. Let me add more: his buying my brothers ponies to ride when they were young, his loving my grandmother, his total pride in his family and this nation, his sense of duty to his sisters, his love of the Church, his respect for his dad and mom, his garden, are the foundation of his character, and what I remember so acutely about him.

I miss him so much already. He was there for me. He was steadfast, faithful to his family. a great man, in so many ways!

Celebrate Jesus!

"For unto you is born this day in the City of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying Glory to God in the Highest and peace goodwill toward men." Luke 2:11-14

Jesus is ALIVE! Jesus said, " Fear Not! I AM the first and the last; I AM He that liveth and was dead; and behold, I AM alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death.' Revelation 1:17-18

The good news of Christmas is that Jesus came to the earth through a woman's womb, born of the Holy Spirit supernaturally, and lived on the earth and worked many miracles. He witnessed of the Father in heaven saying, " I and my Father are one.' [John 10:30]" He died on the Cross for the salvation of our souls and to redeem us from sins, and He rose on the third day and lives in heaven. He wants all humans to join Him in heaven on the Judgement Day, so live your life in accordance with God's plan.

Jesus is the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament and the Qu'ran. He is alive forevermore. HE is ever ready to receive you if you repent of your sins and turn toward the One True God. Celebrate the gift of God's love and salvation. Celebrate Life! Celebrate the miracle birth of Jesus, his willingness to be intercession for us, and His Sovereignty. Merry Christmas!

Jesus was persecuted too!

Chuck Colson said that more Christians have been persecuted in the 20th Century than in all the other centuries that preceded it. He was talking about the abuses in North Korea under the Kim Jong II regime that was described by Mariam Bell of the Wilberforce Forum, as "every bit as horrid and reprehensible as the German Holocaust." Also, according to an article in the Voice of the Martyrs, November 2004 issue, entitled "Martyred in China" Jiang Zongxiu was beaten to death on June 18.2004 at the Public Security Bureau for having distributed Bibles. Of course these Christians, are not accused of distributing Bibles but accused of "disturbing the social order"-- a political crime; and in North Korea they are persecuted for failing to worship Jong as god.

The US Congress has passed HR 4011 called the North Korea Human Rights Act and it is to be signed by the President. The President included North Korea in his "axis of evil" speech. I am not sure how that bill will help the people in North Korea. It wasn't passing a bill entitled Human Rights that liberated the Jews but the allied invasion. It wasn't words on a document to be delivered to whom? Kim Jong?? The Dictator, Tyrant, persecutor of believers? Will he be persuaded to change his whole nature by what the US Congress signed on paper? I wonder! The Bible says a leopard does not change his spots.

Another group persecuted are the Akobo in the Upper Nile region of Sudan. The fighting there continues even though there has been a US brokered "ceasefire" of hostile action between Christians and Khartoum's genocidal jihad.

How are Christians to respond to these events and stand with them in the hour of crisis? By opening out mouths and using our pens or keyboards. Proverbs 31:8 -9, which I use a lot in the prolife ministry is written, "open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously and plead the cause of the poor and needy." The poor and needy still need the protection of the strong and the powerful. They still need the prayers and the actual aid to make changes in their nations. Some have stayed in their nations when they could have left because they had a mission from God or because they had family there.

The leaders have to make a difference or they are not leaders but followers. The leaders of the Christian-Jewish-Muslim nations have to defend Christianity all over the world. We, Christians, along with the Jews and also the Muslims, who after all, came from Abraham, one who loved God, must defend those who believe in the One God. There is only one God over the earth, One creator and one mediator between God and man*, and that is the Lord Jesus, the one who is the Godhead in the flesh and who said, "I and my Father are one". [John 10:30]

We, cannot let those who believe suffer and die. Jesus said on the cross, "it is finished" and indeed, it must be finished. The shedding of human blood has to end! The persecution to the death of those who believe in the One God has to end. There has to be a time of rejoicing on the earth that Jesus came to the earth in the flesh as the Messiah, and died on the Cross in the place of all of us for our sins, and rose from the dead on the third day and is alive forevermore in heaven.

This time of year is when that event is celebrated. Yes, we know the date is arbitrary. Yes , we know that worshipping The One who died for us is not "politically correct". Yes, we know the pagans and the homosexuals and satanic cults and the atheists all hate God,but that is their problem. It cannot become our problem. Those of us who love God have to do what we can do on this earth in order to win a place a heaven. Jesus said if you are ashamed of me in this life, HE will be ashamed of us when we all stand before the Great White Throne of God.

I am asking all the leaders whom I have already written about to make a difference --to open your mouths to stop the persecution of Christians or Jews or any who believe in God. The Christians, Jews and Muslims must not be enemies for we all worship the same God! The same man who fathered the Jews fathered the Muslims and Jesus, God in the flesh, created by the power of the Holy Ghost, is from that origin. The same God of the Old Testament is the G-d of the Jews, Jehovah, and the same God of the Muslims, Al- lah or as other names HE is known by Elohim, El Shaddai, Jesus. How could HE not be? There was only one Abraham and he taught both his sons and who he taught them about was the great I AM, The God. The turmoil the world is in has to be realigned. It has to become the ones who do believe against the devil, the forces of darkness, those who don't believe, instead of at each other. The devil, the old serpent as Revelations calls him, the anti-christ is the enemy, not the Christians!

We are the ones who should know better! The ones who worship statutes, well who can judge their hearts but God tells us not to worship idols. The ones who worship men, we know are not pleasing to God. But the Christians, Jews and Muslims all agree that there is One God over the earth. I am pleading for the lives of all believers everywhere. I am pleading for the right to read and distribute the written words of God everywhere. I am pleading the cause of the poor and needy right now. I am asking all believers to pray as you have never prayed before, that God in His infinite wisdom and mercy will reveal the truth everywhere, and save His people, those who believe and confess His name and those whose deeds have labeled them boldly Christian, or Jew or Muslim. The ones who believe in the One God have to stick together and defend those who need it. Do your part please. Pray without ceasing. Those with the power of government in your domain, exercise it on behalf of Christians. Put the word out that killing of Christians or Jews or Muslims is anathema to God!

*I Timothy 2:5, "For there is ONE God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

New CDC report may help some with AIDS

New CDC, NIH and HIV Medicine Association Guidelines Report entitled, "Treating Opportunistic Infections Among HIV Infected Adults and Adolescents" MMWR Report, Dec 14,2004, 53 (RR15):1-112. I am including just basic data presented to notify public such a report exists but the report itself is 112 pages long. This is an "evidence based" report of Clinical manifestations and recommended treatments , drawn from a study of Europeans, Latin Americans, Africans and Asians. The report discusses ART (antitroviral therapy as the "cornerstone of strategy", in treating opportunistic infections including crytosporidiosis, microsporaidiosis, multifocal leukoencephalopathy, and Kaposi sarcoma, and also includes recommendations for pregnant women. One specific recommendation for all pregnant women is that all should be screened for syphilis on their first prenatal exam. Full report at www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/rr5315a1.htm/.

Washington Post article, entitled, "Doctor Convicted of Drug Charges" by Jerry Markon, Dec 16,2004 ,gives details of the case before the Court. In my opinion, it shows exactly why the current push by groups such as "end of life" toward the misuse of narcotics to cause death in the pretense to "relieve pain" is bad medicine! Article is about Dr. William E. Hurwitz, who has been found guilty of drug trafficking and in such a way that it caused the death of one patient, and seriously injured two others. US District Court Judge Leonard D. Wexler revoked Dr. Hurwitz's $2 million bond and the doctor is in custody of US Marshals. I applaud the government for the decision to prevent the perversion of health care to death care, or to tolerate/allow the deliberate misuse of narcotics and other drugs.

Operation Outcry, Silent NO more is going to the US Supreme Court to overturn Roe decision hopefully! Praise God for this news. Pray that the government will also do the right thing in this situation and end the merciless slaughter of millions of human beings in their mother's wombs. Roe decision is the 20th Century version of Herod of the Bible slaughtering the babies. It is waaaaaaaaaaaay past time to stop "abortion as a right" since premeditated, killing of innocents should be a crime.

Spoken like a true Patriot

Georgia Senator Zell Miller gave a speech on the floor of the US Senate that I hope will be recognized some day as the one that changed this nation. I will include excerpts from it as the whole thing is long. He started by quoting from the book of Amos, ch 8, v11, 'the days will come saith The Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the word of The Lord. And they shall wander from sea to sea and from the north to the east, and shall not find it'. Has anyone more accurately described the situation we face in America today? A famine of hearing the words of The Lord. But some will say, but Amos was just an Old Testament prophet... who lived 700 years before Christ. That is true, so how about one of the most influential historians of modern times? [Arnold Toynbee said, of the 22 civilizations recorded in history 19 have failed when they arrived at the point of moral decay where America is now, and that was around 1975--sorry I misplaced exact quote,]

Sen Miller continued, "the desire and will of this Congress to meaningfully do anything about these so-called social issues is non-existent and shamefully disgraceful. The American people are waiting and growing impatient with us.They want something to be done. I am pleased to be a co-sponsor of SJ Res 26 along with Senator Allard [from Colorado] proposing an Amendment to the Constitution of the United States relating to marriage, and S 1558 the Liberties Restoration Act,which declares liberty rights in several ways, including the Pledge of Allegiance and the display of the Ten Commandments. And today I join Senator Shelby and others with the Constitution Restoration Act of 2004, that limits the jurisdiction of federal courts in certain ways. In doing so, I stand shoulder to shoulder not only with my Senate co-sponsors and Chief Justice Roy Moore of Alabama, but more importantly with our Founding Fathers, in the conception of religious liberty....these Judges who legislate instead of abjudicate, do it without being responsible to one single solitary voter by their actions. Among the signors of The Declaration of Independence was a brilliant young physician from Pennsylvania, named Benjamin Rush. When Rush was elected to that First Continental Congress, his close friend Benjamin Franklin told him, "we need you...we have a great task before us, a task assigned to us by Providence." Today, 228 years later, there is still a great task before us assigned to us by Providence. Our Founding Fathers did not shirk their duty and we can do no less. By the way, Benjamin Rush was once asked a question that has long interested this Senator from Georgia in particular. Dr.Rush was asked, 'are you a democrat or a bureaucrat'? and the good doctor answered, 'I am neither, I am a Christocrat. I believe that He alone who created and redeemed man is qualified to govern him. ' That reply of Benjamin Rush is just as true today in the year of Our Lord 2004, as it was in the year of Our Lord 1776....So if I am asked why with all the pressing problems this nation faces today why I am pushing these social issues and taking the Senates' valuable time, I will answer. Because it is of the highest importance... Yes, there's a deficit to be concerned about in this nation, a deficit of decency. So as the sand empties through my hourglass at warp speed, and with my time running out in this Senate and on this earth, I feel compelled to speak out. For I truly believe that at times like these, silence is not golden. It is yellow!"

Wow! What a great speech! I wish I had heard it in person. I feel particularly proud at this moment since I am a native born Georgian educated at the University of Georgia.

Also, I want to thank Forbes magazine for making David Graham "face of the year" for his boldness in spilling the beans on the FDA's move from a public protecting agency to a self-preservation agency and their deals with Big Pharma. I applaud David Graham for taking the risk he has taken in the Vioxx scandal.

Also, I want to thank Reuters photographer Viktor Korotayev for that magnificent photo he took on Sept 2, 2004, of the Russian Police Officer so gently carrying that baby to safety, in the Beslan school tragedy. It is shown in the Reuters' Pictures of the Year 2004 album. It so exemplifies the way the nation should treat babies that I believe it should be the poster photo of the Right to Life movement.

Prince Saud's remarkable words

Prince Saud of Saudi Arabia delivered a speech at the Forum of the Future in Rabat, Morocco on Dec 11th, 2004, to representatives of many nations, including the US Sec of State, Colin Powell. I asked for permission from the Saudi Embassy to reprint part of it and they granted it to me. The words of the leaders of the world are important especially when those leaders have direct influence on a billion people. Excerpts from the speech are: "At the outset, let me state firmly that I believe there can never be a clash of civilizations between us...It is a contradiction in terms. Civilizations are not competing products in the market place but rather the collective effort of human genius built on cumulative contributions from many cultures. We are all indebted to the ingenuity of great men...There is no argument between us either regarding the universality of the values of liberty, equality, and fraternity, or the Jeffersonian democratic ideals or Wilsonian principle of self determination. Our Arab and Islamic Heritage incorporates most of these values. ..We, in Saudi Arabia firmly believe that modernization and comprehensive political, economic and social reforms are badly needed in our part of the world. We are fully aware that partial, minor and isolated reforms or cosmetic changes are not sufficient in this regard..The real bone of contention is the longest conflict in modern history...leave the meeting with hope...building a true partnership for progress and a common future." The entire speech is available at www.saudiembassy.net/2004news/statement/StateDetail.asp?cIndex-486/. The speech is worth reading. I abbreviated it since this is a blog but the entire words reveal a reasoned mind and a willingness to make peace work and an awareness of the way the world sees Saudi Arabia. It is in the best interests of all nations and those who believe in God, to pray for peace and to work to achieve it. My tiny part is typing out the words of a Leader, Prince Saud of Saudi Arabia, who deserves respect as he is the leader of his nation as Pres Bush is the leader of this nation.

Also in the US a wonderful example of God-fearing leadership is Circuit Court Judge Ashley McKathan, of Montgomery Alabama, who had made for him a Judge's robe with the Ten Commandments sewn in. He wore the robe to Court this past Monday, saying "you can't divorce the law from the truth..The Ten Commandments can help a Judge know the difference between right and wrong." Isn't this wonderful? Righteous bold men standing up to be counted for God!

Also, Canadian Columnist David Warren remarking on the efforts by the Dutch to legitimize their ungodly Groningen Protocol of killing "terminally ill" by human's opinion babies, said, "the public morals of the Dutch have shot off the 'slippery slope' and into free fall." Then regarding the poll that The Globe and Mail took asking Canadians if they thought medical teams wanting to do away with the critically sick infants were on the "right track" and finding that 3 in 4 Canadians said "yes", he said, " I would place Canadians just behind them [the Dutch] . approximately on the chute itself, with nothing left to stop us but the earth beneath." Excerpts from article, "Dutch says Child Euthanasia Happening Around the World' reported in LifeSite News, Dec 15th,2004.

We, citizens who live in the world have to cling to the truth of God, and teach it. We have to exalt true and righteous leaders who seek peace and civilization. We have to begin the process of finding common ground in order to avoid complete destruction of our civilizations. We have to make sure the pagans and infidels [those who reject God] are not making the rules. We must all be bold for God and for our nations.

More quotes from admirable men

I am making an effort to publish in some way the efforts of bold men who are making an impact for several reasons. "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." [Proverbs 29:2]
Also, "Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee; Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God. and thou shalt teach them the ordinances and laws, and shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands and rulers of hundreds and rulers of fifties and rulers of ten. " [Exodus 18:19-21] In other words at all levels of God's government, men are supposed to be in charge. Now do we have that in the US?

Here are the quotes from men I want to call attention too today:
"I have witnessed a great deal of damage done from sex reassignment...we psychiatrists have been distracted from studying the causes and natures of their mental misdirections by preparing them for surgery and for a life in the other sex. We have wasted scientific and technical resources and damaged our professional credibility by collaborating with madness, rather than trying to study, cure and ultimately prevent it." Dr. Paul McHugh, Distinquished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University, protesting sex change operations. Dr. McHugh was instrumental in getting Johns Hopkins from ceasing such wasted efforts. This is a quote from a letter by Rev Lou P Sheldon, also a man, who is Chairman of the Traditional Values Coalition, dated Dec 13, 2004, "IRS Gives Tax Deduction to Sex Change Operation" as he called upon Christians and other believers [of the truth that homosexuality, transexualism and other perversions are abominations] to act and protest the use of IRS to grant any legal status to perversion.

Also, Dr.David J Hole of Glasgow University, a public health expert said, passive smoking [breathing in the exhaled smoke or the smoke from the cigarettes of others] "represents the greatest risk to public health " when compared to other forms of involuntary environmental exposure. The country of Scotland has banned public smoking, so why is smoking in public, legal in the US?

Daniel Shipley of St. Charles County, Missouri deserves national fame I think for what he is doing. He is suing the Missouri Dept of Health and Planned Parenthood seeking to recover on behalf of taxpayers the $700,000 paid to Planned Parenthood in violation of Missouri law. Their General Assembly banned any State family planning money from going directly or indirectly to any group that would have the effect of subsidizing abortions. Since Planned Parenthood's business is abortion it should not have received one cent from any government in this nation! Read article, "Man Challenges Funding for Planned Parenthood " Dec 12, 2004, in the Columbia Daily Tribune.

Conscience Protection is now federal law!

Praise God! Congress has passed it and Pres Bush has signed it into law, the Hyde Weldon Conscience Protection Law. The Pres signed in on December 8th,2004. The Amendment to the bill is written:"1) None of the funds made available in this Act (the federal Health and Human Services Appropriation Bill for fiscal year 2005) may be made available to a Federal agency or program or to a State or local government if such agency program or government subjects any institutional or individual health care entity to discrimination on the basis that the health care entity does not provide, pay for, provide coverage of, or refer for abortions. 2) In this subsection, the term "health care entity" includes an individual physician or health care professional, a hospital, a provider sponsored organizationn, a health maintenance organization, a health insurance plan, and any other kind of health care facility, organization or plan." .

Also, more proof that the tide has turned toward life: Twenty-six members of Congress along with the American Center for Law and Justice have filed 'friends of the Court" briefs with the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in support of the Department of Justices' appeal to the decisions of federal Judge Richar Kopf. Judge Kopf declared the acts of Congress to be unconstitutional if you can imagine such outrageous arrogance. The Congress is the only group authorized by Article I Section I of the US Constitution, to create law, not federal Judges or the US Supreme Court. The Congress banned partial birth abortion which prolifers recognize as infanticide. Three liberal Judges declared the acts of Congress to be "unconstitutional" which plainly shows it is not the US Constitution that they are using as a reference! (Maybe they refer to the Communist Manifesto??)

Anyway, the righteous members of Congress decided to "fight fire with fire" and also use the Judicial system to present their cases. Twenty-six bold and wonderful people have signed on to the appeals to uphold the ban on infanticide. I am proud to list their names here:
Rep Robert Aderholt of Ala, Rep Todd Akin of Mo, Rep Bob Beauprez of Co, Rep Marsha Blackburn of Tn, Rep Roy Blunt of Mo, Rep Michael Burgess of Tx, Rep, Michael Collins of Ga, Rep Jo Ann Davis of Va, Rep Jo Ann Emerson of Mo, Rep Tom Feeney of Fl, Rep Jeff Flake, of Ariz, Rep Trent Franks of Ariz, Rep Scott Garrett of NJ, Rep Phil Gingrey of Ga, Rep Melissa Hart of Pa, Rep Ernest Istook of Okla, Rep Walter Jones Jr of NC, Rep Ric Keller of FL, Rep Marilyn Musgrove of Co, Rep Charles Pickering Jr of Miss, Rep Joseph Pitts of Pa, Rep Jim Ryun of Kan, Rep Chris Smith of NJ, Rep Mark Souder of Ind, Rep John Sullivan of Okla, Rep and Sen-elect Jim DeMint of SC. Praise God for everyone of these true Patriots who want to preserve the lives of future Americans and therefore the nation itself.

The excerpts from the brief are the government "has a vital and compelling interest in preventing the spread of the practice of abortion into infanticide." It also sharply criticizes the Roe decision, as treating fetuses as "non-persons" and it urges the Appeals Court not to "compound the fundamental injustice by extending Roe to deny the personhood of partially born children." Also, "partial birth abortion represents the beachhead of abortion's assault on postnatal life -the bridge between abortion and infanticide. " The only statement I would take exception to is calling it a 'bridge--IT IS ALREADY INFANTICIDE.

Is infanticide a Constitutional right? NO WAY! The US Constitution gives us the right to life!

Thank God for Roger Koopman

According to Helena, Montana news and Associated Press in an article,"New Lawmaker proposes death certificates for all abortions", a new member of the State House, Roger Koopman, is sponsoring a bill to require death certificates for all aborted babies. He said, "its a small way for our society to acknowledge that a life did exist even if they didn't get to see a sunrise or blow out a candle". Koopman said he hopes it will make women think what they are doing if they "choose" to kill their baby in the womb. The official "Cause of death is termination of pregnancy: I imagine it would say and then every anniversary of the self inflicted pain of the mother, she could get her piece of paper, only reminder of her baby, out and look at it.
Some time back I might have considered that a stressful thing to subject a woman too, but now, I think if she killed a toddler she would be in jail, (hopefully!) and if she killed her husband she would be in jail, (hopefully) but if she killed her tiniest most defenseless member of her family, she would be "counseled" and "given grief therapy" and "reminded of her rights" and "consoled" and "comforted". The shame of it all! The absolute disgrace of what this nation has come too! The unspeakable horror of a woman putting her innocent baby on a list to be destroyed and then acting as if she had somehow brought women as a class to some new level of "power" or glory.
When I stop to think of all the millions of babies in wombs, that never had a name, never had a birth day, never had even a moment of sunshine before their lives were mercilessly snuffed out by horrible dismemberment and literally being torn apart, it breaks my heart.
I pray Roger Koopman is a bold and righteous and determined man. Also, that he never, never, never, never gives up the battle for the lives of the innocents; and that he uses whatever means he has at his disposal as a Legislator to force change in his State and therefore inspire other men in other States to do the same. May God help him and may God bless him and may God protect him and his family as he prepares to do battle with the Femi-Nazis and other radical baby-killing factions in this nation.

The Times of Malta gets it...

The Times [newspaper] of Malta, gets it. They understand what the issues are in the battle raging in every nation for the lives of the innocent preborn citizens. They printed,"across the world, the number of abortions allowed by law or unsanctioned is greater than the sum total of soldiers and civilians killed in the wars of the 20th Century. We should find the disregard for life in peaceful circumstances abhorrent." As reported December 04,2004 , in the newsletter from the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children in the UK. Also, other leaders are getting it too.
The recent attack on the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia, according to the news, also upset the Saudi citizens, and their Royal House and that is good. Not good that the attack happened but good that it made the Royals decide to fight back. Their Prince seems to be a man who wants the name of Arab or Saud to be honorable and that is good also. According to the Reuters news service, in article, "Saudi Prince wins libel case" on December 06,2004, Saudi Prince Turki Al-Faisal, who is the London Ambassador from Saudi Arabia, said," the killing of innocent life goes against Islamic beliefs".
I look for reports of the men and the leaders of the world, who become determined to fight the true good fight against the devil, and his destruction in order to publicize them. Along those lines, there is a book recommended by www.newamerican.com, entitled The Empty Cradle, by Phillip Longman. about how the falling birthrates in every nation threaten the world's continuance, and what we should do about it. Mr. Longman said, "we' re not facing a nuclear war, or a population bomb, we're facing a depopulation bomb. This isn't just Europe. It's the entire world." Of course, there are at least two demographics reports raising the alarm also, one from an Indian Economist and one from the French.
The purpose of my work is to end the killing~Be a part of the solution! Raise a standard for life. Speak out, write on behalf of the unborn children, open your mouth for all those appointed to destruction according to Proverbs 31:8. Be a voice of the martyrs! Babies in their mothers' wombs sacrificed by their own mothers for money, or political power, or to keep their figures, or for vanity, or to appease the man involved, or to continue their educations, or for any reason or no reason, are martyrs! They need heroes. Please be one. gloria poole pappas,RN

Royal Hashemite King Abdullah's great speech

I am writing about a speech delivered in Amman by King Abdullah of Jordan. Now, I wasn't there to hear it, but I read it on his website and I was so impressed! I want everyone to read it. because it reveals what kind of man he is and what his vision is and of course, that affects the US. We have been able to count on Jordan to be allies in the past. I am asking all of you to read the entire speech for two reasons : 1) it is powerful and moving, and 2) he includes verses from the Qu'ran and that seems to be very necessary for all of us to understand the real religion of Islam . That builds bridges to the other religions based upon ONE God and the believers, and tears down barriers between nations. That speech helped me understand that they are not our inherent enemies as so many have tried to say but which I never believed to be true. His speech is on the site www.kingabullah.jo and click on "amman" in English.
Here are the words that leaped off the screen at me: "upholding what is good and forbidding what is wrong, accepting others, and honouring all human beings"; "belief in one God" ; "the daily prayers by which we connect to our Creator"; "Muslims believe in all messengers of God, denying the message of any of them is a deviation from Islam" ; "peoples of different faiths can meet together with respect for others' ideas and faiths, and act in common in the service of human society"; and "shun violence and cruelty". These are very powerful words for anyone but especially a King!
Of course, as a prolifer, intent on ending the slaughter of innocents, I especially loved this quote, " Islam upholds human life. There is to be no fighting against non-fighters, no assault on civilians and their properties, on children in their mother's laps, on students in schools, on older men and women. To assault the life of a human being is equivalent to assaulting the right to life of all, and this is one of the greatest sins for life is the continuation of humanity."
I pray that God will raise up powerful men who like King Abdullah of Jordan, will take a bold and public stand for human life and who will not budge one iota from it, when the sessions for the US foreign policy are discussed, when the debate on the UN cloning policy [God willing the policy will be a ban on human tampering!] and the "family planning" agenda is deliberated, and when the monies are passed out. And also, when the debates on the curriculum for the schools is discussed, and the rules for lobbying, and the candidates for office are agreed upon, and the platforms for a nation are decided, that human life will be held sacred and put first as the necessity of continuing it. I pray for both Pres Bush and King Abdullah to be righteous men who know that the continuity of each respective nation depends upon policies that are conducive to human life flourishing and continuing and in that regard, that both men begin to remove from the government any influence that is against human life.
