"And the Lord said unto me, Amos,what seesth

thou? And I said " a plumbline.Then said The Lord, "behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel, : I will not again pass by them anymore". Amos 7:8 And in Daniel 5:23, it is written, "thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified."

I read the newspapers a lot and I pray to understand what it all means according to the words of God. The relentless jockeying for position among nations, the idolatry of governments as god, the worship of man-made money and idols, the killing of innocents in their mothers wombs, which is the ultimate child sacrifice, and the sacrificing of human lives for the cause! God never wrote one word that He requires the shedding of innocent blood to appease HIM and in fact, He said He avenges the innocent blood*.The concept that circumstances can be changed by human sacrifice is a totally pagan idea. And I shudder to think what the punishment for those who reject God and His Commandments is going to be!

God tells us plainly that He has set a plumbline for us to get on one side or the other. Anyone who is familiar with construction understands a plumbline is a chalk marking tool to put a straight line on something to be divided. A plumbline that God says HE will not pass by again. He will look to see who is on His side and who is His enemy and then He will act. And He warns us over and over again not to make false gods of possessions whether it be land, or wealth, or power or idols; and HE warns us over and over again not to shed the innocent blood.

The shedding of innocent blood has to stop! The violence must come to an end because it is no solution at all. Killing off one's own citizens, whether it be via "legalized" abortion or car/suicide bombers or "mercy(less) killing" of the sick, injured as in Terri Schindler Schiavo's case, or persuading populations to trade their lives or vital organs in exchange for a good deed for someone else, or any of the various and assorted buzz words of the purveyors of death must end! This nation and every nation has to begin uphold in word and deed the uniqueness, the made-in-the-image-of-God (Genesis 1:27-28) specialness of humans , and the governments must begin to protect human life from destruction as their first and maybe only goal. It is the duty of good governments to protect their citizens' lives first and all other duties take a subsidiary role.

* There are at least 38 Scriptures that prohibit shedding the innocent blood ; in particular Psalms 106:36-42, in which God defines what His punishment is to the whole nation that is guilty of that.
