Being a disciple and your duty to family

Basic Scripture about families, family love and loving God:

“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God, created He him, male and female created He them. And God blessed them and God said unto them, ‘be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it.” Genesis 1:27-28

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis 2:24

“Now The Lord had said unto Abram, ‘get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.” Genesis 12:1

“And a certain scribe came and said unto Him, “Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto him, ‘the foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man hath not where to lay his head’. And other of his disciples said unto Him, ‘Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, ‘follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.” Matthew 8:19-22

“Then one of them, which was a lawyer asked him a question, tempting him and saying, ‘Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, ‘thou shalt love The Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. “ Matthew 22:35-40

Jesus said, “if any man come to Me, and hate not his father and his mother, and wife, and children and brethren and sisters, yea, his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:26

Jesus said,”he that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. He that taketh not his cross and followeth after Me is not worthy of Me. “ Matthew 10:37-38

:”Then one said unto Him [Jesus] ‘behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without desiring to speak with thee. But He answered and said unto him, ‘who is my mother and who are my brethren?’ And He stretched forth his hands toward His disciples and said, ‘behold My mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of My Father which is in heaven, the same is My brother, and sister, and mother’.” Matthew 12:47-50

Jesus said,”for this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they twain shall be one flesh” Matthew 19:5

Jesus said, “suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, nay; but rather division. For from henceforth thee shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father, the mother against the daughter and the daughter against the mother; the mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. “ Luke 12:51-53

Jesus said,”so likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all he hath, he cannot be My disciple. Salt is good, but if the salt have lost its savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. “ Luke 14:33-35
