"And The Lord spake...saying"
"And The Lord, spake unto Moses, saying, 'speak unto the children of Israel, when a man or a woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against The Lord, and that person shall be guilty; then they shall confess their sin which they have done;" Numbers 5:5-7a
Confessing our sins keeps our hearts pure before God and gives Him the chance to forgive us. It requires humbling ourselves before Him and admitting what we did wrong. It admits that God is sovereign, all-knowing and ready to forgive; and that we confess our sins in order to be in right standing with Him. It keeps our vertical relationship intact!
"For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 14:11
